This format of BLS uses a traditional learning approach that utilizes American Heart Association videos. Students will watch informational videos, broken up by instructor lectures and demonstrations, and will then practice hands-on skills while watching the videos. There will be plenty of hands-on practice of the skills presented in the video so every student will leave the class confident in the topics taught during the course. A practical exam and a written exam are given at the end of the class. You must pass both to obtain an AHA BLS Certification card. The passing grade on the written exam is 84%.
The required student text for this course is the 2020 Basic Life Support Provider Manual, hard-copy or eBook. Provider Manuals serve as a reference tool for use before, during, and after your course. Without the book, the student will not be permitted to participate in the course. We do sell hard-copy BLS Student Manuals in the classroom if you choose not to purchase a book in advance, which can be added at check out during registration or upon arrival to class. Out of respect for the time of all students, we will not delay the start of class for the purchase of AHA products, including eBooks.
This format of BLS uses a blended learning approach which utilizes part online and part in-person delivery methods for course completion, and is ideal for students looking for a shorter in-person class time. Students will complete the self-paced HeartCode BLS online course through the AHA eLearning website, which guides student through all BLS topics and completion of the multiple choice final exam online. Afterwards, you will attend an in-person session to practice and test all hands-on skills with an instructor. You must pass the online course and the in-person skills testing to obtain an AHA BLS Certification card.
You must complete the HeartCode BLS online prior to your in-person session. Bring a hard-copy of the Completion Certificate you receive after finishing the online course to your skills session, or email it to info@medultralearning.com. We cannot test your skills without this certificate.
For all blended/HeartCode courses, you must complete the online coursework prior to your in-person session. Bring a hard-copy of the required completion certificate with you to your in-person session, or email it to info@medultralearning.com. We cannot test you without this certificate.
